A client from the aviation industry came to JB Tool, Die & Engineering, Inc. for manufacture of a stator support assembly ring. Our production process included machining, turning, and welding to create this specialty fixture that consisted of a concentric outer ring with an inner ring that was within .005".
Designed to assist in the delicate assembly process of jet engine components, this stator ring was made from A36 carbon steel and Delrin. The material had a thickness of 1-7/8". Once assembled, the stator ring had a diameter that measured 30", with tolerances within .0022".

We now produce closure folding and slitting machines in three configurations: 12-station for closures up to 38 mm; 18-station for closures up to 48 mm; and 12-station for wide mouth closures up to 86 mm. No job is too big or too small for JB Tool, Die & Engineering, Inc. When called upon to make an upper spindle shaft for a high-speed rotary machine, we were ready to go. The customer required the spindle shaft to be constructed from air-hardening AISI A6 tool steel. The fabrication process began with CNC turning, grinding, and milling to achieve the rough size. Then we heat treated and used CNC cylindrical grinding to reach the finished dimensions of 9.5" in length and 1"in diameter. Beginning with the client's concept, we engineered a machine that would automate the assembly of nuts onto variable length U-bolts. A client in the plastics industry presented us with a challenge: Create a product whose requirements were beyond any currently available process. The project called for production of manufacturing equipment for a 70 mm wide-mouth tamper-evident plastic closure that would run at 900 cpm. To fulfill this project, we would need the new process to run at double the speed of what was available at the time. We worked with and invented several new patented processes and mechanisms and built the manufacturing cell that would compression mold a wide-mouth shell at 900 cpm, slit and line at 1000 cpm, inspect, and package the caps for shipment.

JB Tool, Die & Engineering, Inc. engineering department worked with a client from the high speed manufacturing industry to design cams for their equipment. Using the customer supplied part, we began the fabrication process with reverse engineering to produce a 2D drawing, CNC machining the 8620 steel to a thickness of 1 ½", and then grinding the cams to the specific requirements. For this client we produced radial or plate cams and axial cams (face and cylindrical or barrel). On this fabrication project, we worked to tolerances as tight as ±.001".

We were approached by a customer working in the power generation industry to design a machine that would assemble and package power rectifier components. Our engineers worked closely with the client to design a system that would meet their needs. With their input we completed a machine that would attach the rectifier components to create the base, test for continuity and voltage, and laser etch the assembly, and then package the components for shipping. Final machining and controls integration were done in-house by our expert staff.

In need of a progressive stamping die, an automotive OEM turned to JB Tool, Die & Engineering, Inc. to take advantage of our experience in die and tool making. Working with the customer supplied specifications, our team designed the die and machined the details from A2 and D2 tool steels. This project required us to use wire and sinker EDM technology to create the intricate details of the die. After machining, the die was polished, inspected for flaws, and tested to ensure that it performed at the highest level. At JB Tool, Die & Engineering, Inc. we have the ability to produce dies with extremely close tolerance patterns. This die block project for a customer in the automotive industry required these skills. Using our wire EDM capabilities, we produced the die blocks from 1-1/4" thick A2 and D2 tool steels, following the specifications set by the customer. We worked to tolerances of ±.0001" and produced a variety of die blocks. As a finish we applied titanium nitride to harden and protect the surface of the die blocks. We were approached by an automotive OEM to design and build gages for use in production process capability verification. Beginning with CAD modeling to design the gages, we manufactured the components of the gages using our CNC turning and machining equipment from A2 tool steel, aluminum, machine steels, and carbide. We applied black oxide and titanium nitride coatings to protect the components from wear and provided each of these go/no-go and attribute gages with Certificates of Conformance (COC).
